Surface Quality Improvement for Ultrasonic-Assisted Inner Diameter Sawing with Six-Axis Force Sensors

Ultrasonic-assisted inner diameter machining is a slicing method for hard and brittle materials. During this process, the sawing force main factor affecting workpiece surface quality tool life. Therefore, based on indentation fracture mechanics, theoretical model of cutting an ultrasound-assisted saw established in paper improvement. The experiment was carried out with alumina ceramics (99%) as exemplar material. A six-axis sensor used to measure experiment. correctness verified by comparing modeling actual force, influence parameters normal evaluated. experimental results showed that ultrasonic-assisted proposed more accurate. Compared regular tetrahedral abrasive model, mean value variance model’s prediction error were reduced 5.08% 2.56%. Furthermore, using processing could be updated improve slice from roughness Sa 1.534 µm 1.129 µm. provides guidance selection process can efficiency subsequent real-world production.
